Perspectives de croissance de la transformation numérique
Chambre des salariés Follow
Theme of the conference: Growing digitalization covers almost all areas of life, work and the economy. Currently, the public debate focuses in particular on the possible negative effects of digitization on employment.
Despite the Internet revolution and the rapid spread of information and communication technologies (ICT), productivity growth in most industrialized countries, and therefore economic growth in recent years, has been significantly lower than in decades preceding. The observed weakness in productivity can be explained in various ways and there is a broad consensus that no single cause is solely responsible for it. The presentation begins with an overview of the various explanations for the observed weakness in productivity. Next, taking as examples the price statistics and the production of added value but unpaid households (for example, a self-made online reservation), we will examine whether measurement problems could explain the slowdown in productivity growth at the time of digitization.
