Calculate the direct return on a bond investment or even at final maturity.
Understand how an OPC works and how to calculate a NAV.
Place a stock market order, read and understand the information on the quote.
Know the German and English translations of the main concepts specific to securities.
Content
General investment principles and presentation of classic / traditional investment products offered by financial institutions. Comments on investment considerations: security, yield, liquidity.
The characteristics common to securities. Presentation of the main players (issuer, investor, intermediary). Situations in the creation of securities and their balance sheet impact. Examination of a subscription form.
Detailed examination of actions (definition, situation of creation, types and forms of actions). Presentation and calculation of nominal, intrinsic and market values. Review of a common stock (expl: SEO).
Presentation of the different types of reserves, rights and obligations of a shareholder, increases in share capital (practical applications).
Detailed examination of bonds (definition, issuers, setting of issue and redemption prices, calculation of interest and direct return).
Review of an ordinary bond (expl: KBL loan). The classification criteria for bonds. Mixed-type securities: bond with warrant and convertible bond (practical calculation exercises).
Collective investment undertakings (definition, types). Presentation and comments of the investment charter. Simplified NAV calculations.
The secondary market (stock exchange and over-the-counter). The roles and specificities of a stock exchange. The role of the stockbroker. Presentation of the Luxembourg Stock Exchange and comments on the statistics.
Stock market orders. Determination of a stock market price (practical applications). Reading and interpretation of a dimension line. Stock market indices.
General review of the subject using a standard examination questionnaire corrected together in class.
