Every tax specialist and professional in the field of taxation is confronted on a daily basis in his professional practice with the questions of the application of VAT.
It must keep abreast of internal practices and procedures, the latest legislative and jurisprudential changes at national and European level, as VAT is constantly evolving under the impetus of the Community authorities and the very dense case-law of the Court of Justice of the European Union.
In order to allow the professionals to deepen certain technical points and to take into account the recent evolutions of the VAT, Legitech proposes a cycle of improvement of 3 days, in November 2019: the Masterclass TVA.
This cycle is attended by the best specialists in the field, professors and professionals from private practice but also from the Administration.
Day 1: Friday, November 8, 2019, from 1:30 pm to 5 pm
The applicable VAT procedure: what are the rights and obligations of the taxable person and how to avoid procedural defects?
The speakers will present the internal organization within the Registration, Domains and VAT Administration, detailing the various stages of the tax procedure as well as the administrative and judicial remedies. Particular emphasis will also be placed on the fundamental rights of taxable persons throughout the proceedings, taking into account, in particular, the most recent case-law in this area. Finally, the responsibility of the leaders will be addressed.
Speakers: Gilles Barbabianca, Erwan Latch and Pol Mellina
Day 2: Friday, November 15, 2019, from 1:30 pm to 5 pm
Quick fixes to the VAT system: what changes will take place from 1 January 2020?
The Council of the European Union has recently adopted three short pieces of legislation to adjust some of the VAT rules to address four specific issues pending the introduction of a new VAT system. This second session of the Masterclass VAT 2019 aims to put into perspective the new provisions relating to stocks, intra-Community supplies of goods and chain operations.
Jurisprudential Update on VAT
While the VAT legislative environment is slowly moving towards the definitive VAT system, the interpretation of the rules currently in force and intended to remain so for years to come is far from over. Our speakers will take stock of current Luxembourg and European case law and will help you to draw the main lessons.
Speakers: Michel Lambion, Erwan Latch, Bruno Gasparotto
Day 3: Friday, November 22, 2019, from 1:30 pm to 5 pm
The right to deduct from A to Z
The objective of neutrality of the TVA building is essentially based on the cornerstone of the right to deduct. The principles in this area are often complicated to implement in practice. Our speakers will come back to the basics and help you to apply them to the particular cases of partial and mixed taxable persons as well as to cross-border situations involving permanent establishments.
Speakers: Gilles Barbabianca, Pol Mellina, Michel Lambion
