Series of invited speakers our common ground: the initiative of a "social land law"
Uni.lu Follow
The political economy of land ownership and the prospects of a post-growth society
The ongoing debates on finite resources, on social inequalities resulting from financialized real estate markets, on the loss of biodiversity or on the impact of land use on climate change have one thing in common: sooner or later, they will all problematize the question of land ownership, and increasingly call into question the predominance of private property and speculation. In many countries, the declining share of public land has significantly reduced the ability of local authorities or communities to decide and guide land-use patterns in ways that serve the common good. The conference series "Our Common Ground" aims to examine current development trends and the underlying mechanisms, with the aim of presenting innovative policy responses and progressive planning approaches in different European contexts.
