In twenty-five years of voracious growth, Seattle's small online bookseller has risen to the top of world trade. Its visionary founder, Jeff Bezos, is today the richest man on the planet. One of the most feared too.
Like a guru, he directs his 650,000 employees without a qualm, erecting his formidable management methods in a new religion.
His ambitions are limitless. Already master of our personal data, he wants to transform our lives. Often without our knowledge: Amazon invests billions of dollars in artificial intelligence, robotics, drones, security, health, and even the conquest of space.
Three years of an unprecedented survey around the world have allowed Benoît Berthelot to uncover the most secret workings of the Amazon galaxy. In particular, he investigated the ecological impact of this model (incitation to overconsumption, destruction of millions of new goods each year, highly polluting computer servers and supply chain). Amazon is also one of the leading employers in Luxembourg, but is this a model to follow to bring our country to the energy transition?
