Goals
To know the origin, the evolutions and the concept of logistics.
Know the components of this promising sector, its challenges and its opportunities in Luxembourg.
Understand the elements that constitute and the logistics function: supply, production, distribution and demand management.
Identify jobs, profiles and activities in the sector.
Understand the operation of the logistics company, organizations, typologies (logistics and transport, industrial logistics, health services, events, etc.), the different departments and the different functions.
Know the concept of operations management, warehouse management and transport management.
Know the specific jargon and the English and French vocabulary.
Content
Introduction with presentation of the world of logistics and transport, history and geography in relation to the evolution of logistics at global / European level and at Luxembourg level.
Students will learn the different stages of the logistics chain (10 distinct stages).
Participants should be able to identify all internal and external actors in the logistics chain as well as their roles and the interactive links that bind them.
Introduction to vocabulary / technical terms / coding necessary for logistics.
Introduction of documentation from A to Z (HAWB / MAWB / FFM / CUSTOMS / etc.) Related to transport and logistics.
Students will have to identify the functioning of a typical company (structure, organization, departments, etc.).
Identify and differentiate modes of logistics (industrial logistics, events, mass distribution, health, etc.).
Presentation of the transport and logistics professions.
Students will be expected to be able to handle a complex operation in a case study with varying factors.
The last week will be devoted to the recap and group exercises.
