The European Union has adopted various measures in recent years aimed at combating aggressive tax planning… as well as tax evasion. In the eyes of the European Commission, these measures would not be sufficient because there would be a shortfall in terms of tax revenue for the Member States exceeding 100 billion per year. To make up for the shortfall, the European Commission is proposing to adopt a Community directive (one more!), in order to definitively eradicate all aggressive tax planning (as well as all tax evasion). This ambitious objective, if it were to see the light of day, would have significant consequences for the Luxembourg market.
MEETINCS invites you to a lunch-conference during which Maître Alain Steichen, associate professor at the University of Luxembourg, will present the strategy pursued by the Commission, the possible axes of reform and their possible impact for Luxembourg professionals.
