Safer Internet Day (SID) is an annual global event held in February to promote safer and more positive use of digital technologies and to encourage responsible behavior online.
Under the banner “Together for a better internet”, the Safer Internet Day raises public awareness of emerging problems on the Internet. Now, the SID is organized by around 150 countries in collaboration with the European network Insafe/INHOPE and the support of the European Commission.
Each year, Safer Internet Day connects millions of people around the world with numerous activities and events. Children, young people, parents, educators, teachers and social workers as well as actors from industry, politics and civil society are invited to participate in the SID. Everyone is encouraged to take part through various projects to ensure safer use of the Internet.
