One by one, the big open-source projects adopt Git as a version manager to replace CVS or Subversion. This migration is not related to a fashion effect. Git, by its radically different conception, opens up new perspectives for development teams. The two main contributions are performance and flexibility of use.
Git is a distributed version manager: each developer has a copy of the source history locally, which gives the performance gain and the possibility of offering features that can not be implemented with centralized managers such as CVS or Subversion.
The first obstacle to adoption of Git in the enterprise is the lack of integration with development environments, this problem is solved Eclipse side with the tools proposed by the official project EGit.
The second brake is the need for developers to understand the philosophy of Git and in particular to forget some reflexes related to the use of CVS or Subversion. With this in mind, we designed this Git training with Eclipse.
